Our Online Service for Sunday 18th April 2021. An Online Service for Easter 3.

Selection of Images. Text reads: "Prestatyn Church In Wales. Christ Church & Church of the Holy Spirit." "An online service for Easter 3. From 10:00 AM 18th April." "Available at Prestatyn Church In Wales Facebook & Youtube pages or at www.prestatynchurch.com."

 Hi Folks

I do so hope that Easter has been a joyful time for you.  It is wonderful that our Mission Area Churches are all opening up again and there will be services today at Christ Church and the Church of the Holy Spirit for those who have booked places.  There is also a new online service for those who are unable to attend in person or who choose to watch online for various other reasons.  Thank you to all who have faithfully supported the online devotionals over the past year.  It has been so encouraging that so many have kept in touch via these online offerings.  They may need to adapt now that there are live services again, but your thoughts on what you might continue to find helpful would be a constructive contribution to those discussions.

There are online zoom meetings for the Shared Ministry Team and the Mission Area Executive this week.  On Friday there will be a joint funeral for Maureen and Tom Payne who died within hours of each other, however attendance at this is restricted by the Covid 19 regulations to those invited by the family.  They have both made substantial contributions into the life of Prestatyn Church in Wales and have been very much part of the family of the church, so it is understandable that we shall miss them hugely, but hopefully we can take some comfort in that they journey onwards together and that they shared our sure and certain hope of being together with Jesus in his Father's house.  We thank God for them, for their love and friendship.

There will be live services in our churches again next Sunday and these shall both be services of Morning Prayer.  Do remember to book your places.

Keep Safe,
Keep Praying &
Keep Close to Jesus!

God bless you,

Revd David Ash.
Vicar of Prestatyn.

24-7 Prayer. The Prayer Course, available on our website!

 Hello Folks,

Well, it's Easter Bank Holiday Monday, The birds are singing, likely because they're fed up because it's raining. Why is it that Easter always brings out iffy weather? Oh well.. As I'm typing this, Hail stones are falling. Could it be a white Easter? If that's the case. you might well find a recording of Easter Snow showing up. Not promising. Only if it does indeed snow, otherwise it ruins the connection.

Lew here, updating things for the website as usual. I thought we'd share this with you all as a news update. We are now hosting / sharing the 24-7 Prayer Prayer Course & Prayer Course II, here on our website.

To fill you in on the Prayer Course Online, We held a zoom Prayer Course refresher on Wednesday 24th March, which was a speedy "go through" of the original prayer course, especially for newcomers to get an idea of what Prayer Course II will be about. From Wednesday 31st March through to Yesterday, Easter Sunday 4th April at 4:00 PM via zoom, we held Prayer Course 2, which allowed us to explore Unanswered Prayer. I can guarantee you, it was thought provoking, inspiring and helped to unlock prayer.

Click here to go to our official page where you can access both the playlists and gain access to the course notes to view, etc.

All the best to you all,

Take care, Keep Safe  & look after yourselves.

Thurs: Stripping The Altar. Fri: What’s so good about Friday?” Available at Prestatyn Church in Wales Facebook & Youtube Pages or at www.prestatynchurch.com.”

Hi Folks

Don't forget to put your clocks forward an hour!

The new service Today for Palm Sunday has plenty of music, pictures, readings and prayers, so if you have a palm cross then have it with you and get ready to wave it.  It will be available from 10am.

Clear background with text in green and black reads: "Unanswered Prayer. The prayer course II."

Our new course for the Mission Area will be on Holy Week at 4pm from Wednesday through until Easter Day - the Unanswered Prayer Course.  An hour a day seems a fitting discipline for that period and each session will include a video, some discussion and then prayer, to help us grapple further with our own experiences of prayers not getting the answer we had wanted.  It is based on the book 'God on Mute' by Pete Grieg, who is a passionate advocate for prayer, founding the 24/7 Prayer Movement.  This is a follow up to 'The Prayer Course' which many in Prestatyn took part in in 2016 and found it most beneficial.  If you missed out on our Prayer Course Zoom meeting on Wednesday 24th, don't worry, check out the post below which is the playlist for the original prayer course. Once the Prayer Course II has finished on Easter day, We will include the whole course here for you to join in with..  Please let me know if you'd like to be part of that.  The link for all of these is:

You’re looking for a painted pebble with special easter designs. Exchange one for a Chocolate Easter Egg! Step 1: Check the page (Prestatyn Church In Wales Facebook) first thing on Easter Sunday 4th April for the Pebble Dash Map 2021 with locations of painted pebbles (in local parks and gardens). Step 2: Grab a grown-up. Visit one of the locations and find a painted pebble! Full details on the Map! Step 3: Swap your pebble for a Chocolate Egg. 1pm - 3pm Sun 4th April as directed on the Map! Do hurry before they get rolled away! (Covid precautions apply. one pebble per young person.)"

The Prestatyn Easter Pebble Dash is shaping up nicely, although a few more painted pebbles would be helpful.

Thank you to the many who have already offered painted pebbles and eggs for this event on Easter Sunday.  Do contact me if you would also like to paint some pebbles, we are still a little short...  You need to be able to paint a pebble and take it to a pre-determined location to hide it (which I will send to you), wearing gloves (for Covid safety), also please send me a picture of it in advance so that I can allocate an egg for each pebble.  Information for children and families to take part will be available shortly.

White background with images included. Text reads: “Prestatyn Church In Wales 2021 warmly invite you to share any of these Holy Week Online Services. The other Holy Week Services are all shaping up well so do make some of them part of your Holy Week too.

I do hope that you have a deep and meaningful week.

Tuesday, 23 March 2021

One year today, In memory of those who lost their fight with COVID19. Please join us in prayer.

Candle burning against dark background.
We light this candle in prayer to honour and mourn those who lost their fight against COVID19, their families, loved ones and friends.

Good morning to you all on this Tuesday morning.

Today is our day of mourning, our day of prayer, hope and healing, for this day, 23rd March 2021 marks 1 year since the United Kingdom was plunged into national lockdown.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the living and of the dead, we remember those close in our hearts, whether friends, family, colleagues, even those we have never had the chance to get to know, we remember them in our thoughts, our prayers, meditations and in our hearts.

We also remember all those who have suffered the loss of those loved and known to them.

Today at 12:00 PM, a 1 minute silence will be held. The bell at Christ Church shall be rung in memory and honour of those departed from our world.

The last 15 months plus, from when this tragedy started, are a reminder to us all that life is a gift we all share, a life given to us by God, life worth tresuring and honouring each day and celebrating. We have faced so many battles together and apart, with this, we stand together in prayer, in thought and honouring those we have known, loved and lost.

Our country has faced so many tragedies in this last year, from losing those we know and love, to business closures, economic crisis and so much more, with these events, we must pull together, now more than ever, not splinter away and part, instead, join together and unite to change our world for the better.

On this day, we offer our prayers, our devotions, our meditations and honour the memory of those departed from us.

The Lords Prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

Some prayers to share with you today...

A prayer in Mourning.

Bless those who mourn, eternal God,
with the comfort of your love
that they may face each new day with hope
and the certainty that nothing can destroy
the good that has been given.
May their memories become joyful,
their days enriched with friendship,
and their lives encircled by your love.
Amen.

The light of God's promise

May you be held by the God of compassion
as you remember your loved ones today.
May God be with you in your sorrow,
and comfort you in your loss.
May your God, your family and your friends,
give you strength and confidence.
May your spirit be lifted, may your heart be filled with peace,
and may the light of God's promise fill you with joy and hope.
Amen.

Hold me to your heart

God of compassion,
when I feel helpless in my grief,
hold me to your heart.

God of gentleness,
in those moments when life is dark,
keep me close to you.

God of comfort,
when I am overcome with sadness,
shelter me under your wings.

Ever-faithful God,
help me to find reassurance and hope
in these words of hope to all your people -
"Because you are precious to me,
because I love you,
there is no need to be afraid,
for I am with you." (Isaiah 43)

God of our longing

God of our longing,
hear our prayers
protect our dreams,
and listen to our silent hopes.

Deal gently with our pain,
speak to our sadness,
and remove the barriers
that imprison our spirit.

Shed your light
where shadows are cast,
that we may feel your warmth
and know your presence.

Give us courage
to hold fast to our vision
that we may build our world
and create our future.

Amen.

Lord of life and love

Lord of life and love,
as we give thanks for times past,
grant us courage to embrace the present
and grace to share the future.
In memory of loved ones dear,
kindle their flame to shine in the dark
and light the path ahead.
Show the way that leads to life
as we cherish days gone by
and inspire us with the touch of love
that faith and hope live on.

Compassionate God

Compassionate God,
as your outstretched hands held a crucified world,
so let our hands convey the touch of love.
As you embraced our vulnerability
so cradle our hopes and fears.
Reach out to our frailty,
release our painand in your tenderness,
bring health to our brokenness
that, in our weakness, we may find strength
and, in our poverty, the unfurled riches of your resurrection.

The above prayers we share with you from CAFOD.

Our Online Service for Sunday 14th March 2021. "Comfort and Peace." Mothering Sunday & The Fourth Sunday Of Lent.

Text reads: No Live Services At Present... "Comfort & Peace." An online service for Mothering Sunday available from 10 AM 7th March. /available at Prestatyn Church In Wales Facebook & Youtube pages or at www.prestatynchurch.com.

Hi Folks

There's a new online service for Mothering Sunday which features Teddy C, available from 10am this Sunday on Facebook, and here on our website. So I do hope that you can join us.

Background image of coloured pebbles. Foreground text in White reads... "The Prestatyn Pebble Dash! What an eggselent Easter Event!"

The Prestatyn Pebble Dash!

Could you paint a pebble for Easter?  This can be with Christian symbols, flowers or patterns to look like Easter Eggs.  The intention is that these will be 'hidden' around the town (in safe public places) and children will be invited to hunt them down on Easter Day, and then swap their pebble for an Easter Egg.  The scale of the event will depend upon how many pebbles we can decorate (and the number of eggs to go with them), so if you can find a suitably smooth pebble and have the time to decorate it then please let me know asap.  I'll ask you to take a photo of your pebble (to send to me) this will then be matched with an egg, ready for claiming.  I will issue you with a  general location for 'hiding' your pebble, which will need to be on Easter Saturday (using gloves).  You can certainly paint more than one pebble.  If you'd like to donate chocolate eggs as prizes (any size) then please do - I'll arrange to collect them.  If you're willing to be on a rota at a table outside of CHS or CC on Easter Sunday afternoon then these will be advertised as the opportunities to swap pebbles for eggs.  The only rule is that there should be only one pebble/egg per child.  If I can get a grant then there'll also be some free Easter story books to give away too.  Covid restrictions shall be monitored carefully, and changes may be made to these arrangements, but this is not a gathering and families will be encouraged to hunt separately for the painted pebbles.  Okay, so the dash is on to get painting those pebbles!

It's the last of the Lent Course Sessions: Tenants of the King on Wednesday (at 7.30pm) and also the Mission Area Prayer Meeting (at 4pm), so do join those via zoom, even if you haven't before.

There will be a short intensive course in Holy Week at 4pm each day (Wednesday to Sunday) which is a follow up to the Prayer Course which many took part in during Lent in 2016.  This course focuses on unanswered prayer and will consist of video, discussion and prayer, lasting no more than an hour or so.  It looks like a challenge but very worthwhile.  There will be a whirlwind/whistle stop recap of the original Prayer Course on Wednesday 24th at 4pm.  All this has to be via zoom, so do use the link below.  If you are uncertain about using zoom, then do contact the office, as someone would be very pleased to talk it through with you and help you test it out.  Do let me know if you hope to support this course.

Bryn a Môr Mission Area is now registered with Amazon Smile (individual churches cannot register as churches would need to be a registered charity).
This means that each time you buy something from Amazon, using smile.amazon.co.uk we will get a percentage of the cost of your purchase.

When you shop at smile.amazon.co.uk, Amazon will donate to Bryn a Mor Mission Area. Support us every time you shop.

If you have an amazon account, you can create an Amazon Smile account which works with your normal account, the only difference is that instead of the normal amazon account you use, you visit the www.smile.amazon.uk account. When you create your account and it asks you for your chosen charity, it will suggest their supported default charities, there is a search button below, if you wish to support us, please type or paste in the following charity name.

Bryn a Môr Mission Area

Once you create your Amazon Smile Account and purchase anything through this account, a small percentage is donated from amazon to the Bryn a Môr Mission Area.

Thank you for anything you can do to help us.

Keep Safe,
Keep Praying &
Keep Close to Jesus!

God bless you,

Revd David Ash.
Vicar of Prestatyn.
